About the Role:

The Design Purchasing Coordinator responsibilities are to help organize, purchase, and process materials and supplies needed to ensure the successful completion of projects.


Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Work closely with the Project Team, Designers and Contractors

  • Place, confirm, and track a high-volume amount of purchase orders with multiple vendor

  • Create receiving reports for all merchandise ordered, to be used by staff and off-site warehouse vendors

  • Verify and document all warehouse receiving and inventory of merchandise through coordination with warehouse personnel

  • Ensure timely arrival of all orders via strong expediting skills

  • Track and locate missing merchandise; place claims on damaged merchandise

  • Organize and schedule returns with suppliers as needed

  • Negotiating pricing and services with warehouses; review contracts as necessary

  • Verify/approve invoices from suppliers against purchase orders

  • Misc. accounting: tracking accounts payables and receivables

  • Review project costs to ensure accuracy, comparing them to estimated costs, and identifying variances between them

  • Compare color selection sheets to floor plans and diagrams and verify proper quantities of materials have been requested

  • Assist Design Team and Director of Sales & Marketing with general department projects as needed

Requirements:

  • 1-3 Years comparable experience

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to process work quickly accurately and with changing priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint

  • Capable of compiling and managing detailed documentation/filing

  • History of maintaining excellent vendor relationships

  • Some travel required
